We have a new fish pond in the back garden. It’s a palace as far as the fish are concerned, which had to cope with nearly four years – spring and summer – of being lifted out of the pond and placed in a bucket while we tried to plug the leaks of the old pond. Leaks, it turns out, can only be plugged if you find them. We didn’t find them all. When the snow and ice finally melted this spring there were about eight inches of water in the pond. How the fish survived the winter we don’t know. But they did.
Enough is enough, said Mrs. Innkeeper. Call someone. So, we called Chuck Simpson at Simpson Landscaping in Dublin, NH. Chuck came over, took a look and said, “I’ll need some tools. Be right back.”
And voila, a beautiful new koi pond.
