A highlight of the winter season in Hancock are the series of concerts by Music on Norway Pond, led by Jody Simpson. The Hancock Inn lends its support to these events by providing housing to the out-of-town artists.
This past weekend Music on Norway Pond brought Carol Barnett’s “The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass” to Hancock featuring a monstrous ensemble of Norway Pond Festival Singers, Conval High School’s Select Choir and – special guests – The Ladles and Friends, musicians and singers from Boston and New York.
It was a full house despite a Nor ‘easter that dropped another 12″ of snow on the ground and trapped our musician guests at the Inn for an extra night.
Snow storms will always bring you closer to the people you pass the time with. We were very lucky it was this talented group of young musicians on this occasion, who gave us the best present you could imagine on the way out the door this morning.
