Arrival Thursday
3-9pm: Arrive & check in to The Hancock Inn. Relax in one of our sitting rooms or take a constitutional down historic Main Street, through the cemetery or to beautiful Norway Pond. Or check out our very own historic landmark-the covered bridge.
5:30-8pm: a casual dinner in our tavern or on the patio.
Day 1: Friday
7:30-9am A delicious cooked- to- order breakfast in the tavern.
9:30am Take a short about 1.5 miles hike or drive up Pack Monadnock to Miller State Park in Peterborough.
12:00 noon After your trek enjoy lunch and a cold beverage on the patio at Harlow’s pub in downtown Peterborough.
1:00pm Stroll though Depot Square for antiques, art, books, clothing & more. Take in an exhibit at The Mariposa Museum or The Monadnock Center for History and Culture.
5:00pm Relax back at the inn and choose from one of the area’s great restaurants for dinner reservations-we’ll gladly help you choose the perfect place.
8:00pm June-October, catch a show at Peterborough Players- Peterborough’s professional theater company.
Day 2: Saturday
8:00-9:30am Another great breakfast in the tavern
9:30am Walk to the Hancock Farmers Market for live music, baked goods, crafts & vegetables.
10:00am Head to historic Hillsborough, NH-about 15 miles away. Visit the boyhood home of our 14th president at the Franklin Pierce Homestead and the Hillsborough Heritage Museum for a glimpse into the past.
12 noon You’ll feel like you’ve crossed the Atlantic Ocean at German John’s Bakery or Mediterrano for lunch.
1:00pm Stop at Gallery at Wellsweep before heading to neighboring town Henniker for Henniker Brewing, Quilted Threads, and The Fiber Studio.
5:00pm Arrive back at the Hancock Inn for cocktails and a round of croquet on the lawn.
7:00pm For dinner, enjoy the seasonal menu of New England favorites in our dining room.
Day 3: Sunday
8:00-9:30am Another great breakfast in the tavern
10:00 Get on the water! Paddle or swim in one of Hancock’s gorgeous ponds- Norway, Willard or Nubinuisit. Bring your own boat or rent one from EMS. There are lots of places to fish, but you’ll need a NH fishing license. Or, for land lubbers, there are great hikes all around us-try Mt. Monadnock for a challenge, or one of Hancock’s smaller mountains- Skatutakee or Bald. Picnic fixings are available at Fiddlehead’s and the Hancock Market just across the street from the inn. Or, try the Monadnock Country Club in Peterborough for a round of golf.
5:30 Head back to the inn for out Innkeeper’s Sunday supper- the menu changes every week so check to see what’s for dinner tonight.
Day 4: Monday
7:30- 9 Another great breakfast in the tavern
10:00 A scenic drive around the area will bring you to lots of antique shops- Peterborough for Bowerbird, Twin Elm and Grove & Main; the NH Antique Co-op in Milford. Or pick up our Made in New Hampshire map at the front desk and see some of the artists and craftspeople of the state. Or visit one of the areas many pick-your-own farms for a taste of the Monadnock region.
12:00 While on your tour, try one of the great lunch spots in Keene – Port Authority, Elm City Brewing or The Stage Restaurant.
6:00 Head to Wilton, NH for dinner at Roam Café or C & S Pizzaria.
7:30 See a great independent movie at the Wilton Town Hall Theater. Definitely get the popcorn.
Day 5: Tuesday
7:30-9 Enjoy one last great breakfast in the tavern
