TRADITIONAL NEW HAMPSHIRE DINING AT THE FOX TAVERN
The Fox Tavern Restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday - Saturday beginning at 5:30 p.m. The last seating is at 8:00 p.m. On Sunday the Restaurant is open for the Innkeeper's Supper, 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
The Dining Room features a four-course tasting menu starting at $48 (excluding beverage, tax & gratuity). The menu, which changes regularly, is prepared using classic techniques and relies on the freshness of local ingredients whenever possible to produce plates such as Grilled Quail, Assiette of Lamb and Seared Scallops. In the Tavern Room, diners can enjoy favorites such as our popular Pot Roast, the Fox Tavern Burger or the Fried Haddock Plate and our hand-cut fries.
Sunday's popular Innkeepers' Supper, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., features a single, home-cooked meal for a prix fixe amount of $18.99 per person (not including beverage, tax and gratuity). Join us for spaghetti and meatballs, roast loin of pork, grilled chicken under-a-brick, beef bourguignon, New England boiled dinner, and other favorites that offer a comforting close to the weekend.
A full, cooked-to-order breakfast is served each morning to our house guests. Start with locally roasted coffee or choose from a selection of Twinings tea delivered to your room or served at your table. Everything possible is homemade - granola, breads for toasting, corned beef hash, sausage - or locally sourced - maple syrup, produce in-season, cheeses and eggs- or made from scratch pancakes, french toast, johnny cakes and oatmeal. Breakfast is, after all, historically considered the most important meal of the day!
The Dining Room at The Hancock Inn
New England's Finest Flavors In New Hampshire's Oldest Inn
The Monadnock region is renowned for its famous mountain, as well as its artists, authors, musicians and – today – its farmers and food purveyors producing everything from cheese and maple syrup to chocolate, honey, and ethically raised pork and lamb.
We believe locally grown, artisan ingredients deserve a world-class restaurant. Hence, the arrival of Chef Casey La Rue to oversee the Inn’s Dining Room which signals a new culinary ambition for the region, in the heart of New England.
Chef La Rue creates a four-course menu to give guests a dining experience that is as fun and enjoyable as it is delicious. The relaxed hospitality of the Hancock Inn meets haute cuisine to provide a casually elegant tasting experience.
Each dish tastes as delectable as it looks. “I’m only interested in food that is actually good,” says La Rue, “not just Instagram good.”
La Rue honed his talents in some of America’s best restaurants, including Daniel and Per Se in Manhattan, and alongside James-Beard-Award-winning chef Ken Oringer at Boston's Clio, as well as 3-Michelin-star chefs Daniel Boulud and Chef of the Century Joël Robuchon.
Eager for new challenges, La Rue, and his wife Amy, a talented pastry chef who creates desserts and pastries for the Hancock Inn and Market, relocated to New Hampshire.
Hancock Inn guests, locals, and travelers can now experience the results — the four-course tasting menu, or the Grand Chef’s Tasting Menu featuring the very best seasonal ingredients of the day.
La Rue's savory quail is sourced from Cavendish Game Birds in Vermont. Seasonal local lettuces and herbs are combined for the first course salad. Lamb is sustainably raised down the road at Mayfair Farm in Harrisville. Even the Dining Room's butter is made from scratch using raw cream from Connolly Dairy Farm, a process taking over a week from start to finish.
The Dining Room at the Hancock Inn welcomes guests 5:30 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Call 603-525-3318 or make your reservations while online here.
We look forward to welcoming you to our table.
