We care about serving dishes that allow our kitchen to creatively honor the bounty of nature, the hard work of farmers, fishermen, gatherers and artisan food producers and the memory of the cooks and cooking in our lives.

Each day the Inn offers afternoon tea / coffee and lighter refreshments to anyone choosing to relax in the comfort of our downstairs common areas.

Breakfast at The Fox Tavern

Early to bed and early to rise – beginning with a good breakfast – would have been an adage to suit the people that settled the Monadnock Region.

The adage is preserved for guests every morning. We serve a full, cooked-to-order breakfast featuring eggs, applewood smoked bacon from North Country Smokehouse in nearby Claremont, NH, home-made sausage and hash, fresh fruit, hash brown potatoes that we grate to order, roasted tomatoes, home-made breads and our renowned pancakes. Plus, Natalie’s Gourmet orange juice, Parker & Sons locally roasted coffee and Twining’s Teas.

One of our regular guests from Europe reported to us on a return trip, “I thought about your breakfast all the way across the Atlantic.”

Our Menu

The Fox Tavern is open for regular dinner service May through October, Wednesday – Saturday, from 5:30 p.m. until the last seating at 8:00 p.m. and for Sunday lunch from noon until 3:00 p.m.

The Tavern menu celebrates the richness of our regional farmers and producers with the comforts of fine New England cuisine: steaks, pan-roasted fish, seasonal vegetables and flavorful, rich braises that are the hallmark of the New England country inn such as our famous Shaker Cranberry Pot Roast. Other Tavern favorites include the Fox Tavern burger, fish and chips and seasonal pot pies. Sunday lunch features our Sunday Roast in addition to our Tavern standards.

Our Wine & Spirits

The cocktail menu at the Fox Tavern reflects the Inn’s place in history. It has been serving drinks to travelers since George Washington was President. The menu places a premium on the classics – those cocktails that have found their place in history – relying on premium ingredients.

Our wine list is a compact selection of wines from around the world, though none from America. As with our classic cocktail list – as with everything we do – our goal is to delight our guests with experiences they might not seek-out for themselves at home. Our wines come from regions in South Africa, Spain, Portugal and even Lebanon – but not California. Some of the best values in wine result from this approach which we hope encourages you to explore.

Our Hours

Dinner service during the week starts at 4:00 p.m. with the Inn’s menu of Small Plates and continues with dinner service beginning at 5:30 p.m. The last seating each evening is at 8:00 p.m.

On Sunday, the Tavern serves lunch from Noon until 3:00 p.m.

May through October the Fox Tavern is open to the public for dinner, Wednesday – Saturday, and for Sunday lunch.

November through April, the Tavern opens several times for various holidays and special events, including Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, Valentines, St. Patrick’s and Easter.
